Volunteering

Volunteers are needed for a wide range of projects, from befriending people, to helping out with admin in the Mind in Mid Herts office. By giving up as little as one hour a week you can make a big difference to someone's life, helping them rebuild their confidence and self-esteem and reducing isolation.

Befriending

Volunteers with our befriending scheme visit an adult with mental health problems for around one hour a week and join them on social activities. Volunteers can make a big difference to a person's life - reducing isolation and depression, and helping the person rebuild their shattered self-esteem.

Employment Advice

Volunteers with our Way2Work employment project help people with mental health problems find their way back into work. By providing encouragement and advice, volunteers can help a person get back into work, a vital step in recovery.

Computer Training

Volunteers with basic IT skills are needed to help at our Computer Club, which takes place on Wednesdays and Thursday afternoons in Welwyn Garden City at Campus West. By helping people with mental health issues gain IT skills, you can help their job prospects, as well as building their confidence.

Course Assistants

Volunteers are needed to help at courses run by Mind in Mid Herts. We run courses in a range of subjects, including art, confidence-building and photography. Taking part in a course helps people with mental health problems gain new skills, build confidence and make friends.

Drop-in Groups

Volunteers at our Drop-in clubs in Welwyn Garden City and Harpenden offer support to people facing issues such as bereavement, stress and mental health problems. Help is also needed with running social and educational activities at the clubs.
