Do One Thing this World Mental Health Day. Support Mind in Mid Herts by joining #HertsVirtualChallenge. Walk, Run, Cycle your way around the Tokyo to fly the flag for better mental health and help make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone.

 

The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has affected all our lives. Many of us are struggling with how it’s affecting us and our loved ones. Those of us already living with mental health problems are facing extra challenges too.

We are asking people to Do One Thing this World Mental Health Day and sign-up to be mental health champs – supporting us to support you and the growing number of people experiencing challenges with their mental health.

This November travel the streets of the Olympic Games in Tokyo (124miles) to raise funds and awareness for Mind in Mid Herts and support your own mental health by getting active.

What is #HertsVirtualChallenge?

Join as a solo participate or as part of a team. You have from 1st November to 30th November to walk, run, jog, cycle or swim the Olympic streets of Tokyo (approximately 120 miles)

Note: If you are in a team each individuals distance will contribute towards the total distance.

Why should I take part?

The Coronavirus pandemic has impacted our lives and over 60% of people’s mental health. Participating in this challenge and raising much needed funds will help us support the growing number of people experiencing challenges with their mental health. In addition, getting active will support your own mental wellbeing and physical health this autumn/winter.

When does it start?

You have the whole of November to complete the challenge.

How many can you have in a team?

You can have a maximum of up to 4 members to a team.

How is the progress and distance recorded?

You can manually track and input your progress onto the challenge website or if you have a device which will supports the following apps; Strava, Fitbit, Apple Watch, Runkeeper and Under Armour, you can sync this with the website which will then automatically update your progress for you!

What is included with my sign up?

The £16 sign-up fee will enable you to virtually track where you are on the map around Tokyo along with leader boards so you can check other people’s progress!

Each person will receive a fundraising pack which includes the following items:

·         Top tips on getting and staying healthy

·         Mental health literature

 

Once you have completed the challenge you will also receive a personalised certificate! We will also be on hand to help with any queries you have along the way.

How much money do I need to raise?

Taking part helps to spread awareness and reduce the stigma of mental health. We have a a fundraising target of £100 but all donations made will be greatly received. You can set up a fundraising page via Justgiving.

What will my money be used for?

Mind in Mid Herts is a small mental health charity in Hertfordshire. All money raised will go back into supporting the people of Hertfordshire.

Do I have to just do one exercise?

People are more than welcome to do the challenge their way, whether that is running, walking, swimming or a combination of sports.
