Mind (in Mid Herts) Marathon

We’re really excited to announce that a group of 6 brave runners are running between our 4 wellbeing centres, the distance of a marathon, on Thursday 18th May! They’re taking on the challenge during Mental Health Awareness Week to increase awareness of the charity, and raise money to help us continue to provide vital mental health support across Mid Hertfordshire.

Why are you running?

I have never ran a full marathon in my life. After a few half marathons I thought it would be a good challenge (both physically and mentally) to push myself further. When Patrick suggested to do a run through Hertfordshire I thought this would be a great way to achieve this

Why is mental health important to you?

I was unaware of what “mental health” meant until I had to support a loved one through their experiences of ill mental health. It highlighted how important our mental health is, and the huge impact that mental illness can have on an individual’s life. It also educated me in the need to talk more about it, reduce stigma, and improve access to support when we need it. I would love to help create a world where mental health is spoken about with the same openness as physical health.
