12 Days of Kindness: Thank You to Specsavers for Supporting Our Campaign!

This December, we’re delighted to be partnering with Specsavers St Albans and Harpenden for our 12 Days of Kindness campaign, a digital initiative celebrating connection, compassion, and mental wellbeing, and helping to tackle loneliness across Hertfordshire.

At Mind in Mid Herts, we know how powerful small acts of kindness can be. We’re so grateful that Specsavers shares this vision and is helping us reach more people with messages of hope, support, and understanding during a time of year that can be especially difficult for many.

“We often see customers who come in for an eye test or hearing check and share how much they’ve been struggling, sometimes without anyone else knowing. Those conversations remind us that health is holistic. Supporting Mind in Mid Herts is a way to extend that care beyond the store and into the community.” – Vivek Joshi, Audiology Director – Specsavers St Albans, St Albans Everard & Harpenden.

Loneliness affects people of all ages and backgrounds, and the festive season can intensify these feelings. By working with Specsavers, we can remind our community that support is available and that even a simple act, a conversation, a check-in, or sharing a kind word, can make someone feel less alone.

The Gift of a Listening Ear

Specsavers has kindly sponsored day 3 of our campaign, The Gift of a Listening Ear. Listening to someone in need is as important feeling connected and supported. Hearing loss can sometimes lead to feelings of isolation, but with the right support, people can reconnect with conversations, laughter, and everyday moments that matter most.

For many people, hearing difficulties can contribute to isolation and loneliness, affecting mental health and overall wellbeing. By promoting awareness of audiology services and the benefits of hearing aids, we can help people stay connected to their friends, family, and communities.

By looking after our hearing, we’re also looking after our wellbeing because connection starts with being able to listen.

Specsavers’ Support in Action

“We’re proud to be more than just an opticians and audiology provider. Our involvement in this campaign shows that we care about the whole person, not just their eyes and ears. We want our customers to know that we’re committed to supporting mental health initiatives locally and creating a culture of kindness in our community.”

In addition to their kind donation, Specsavers has very generously offered free sight tests to the people who use our services in St Albans and Harpenden during this period, as well as displaying T-shirts and collection tins in their St Albans and Harpenden stores to raise awareness and encourage support through their customers and community networks.

Specsavers actively engages with the local community by taking part in events, offering free vision and hearing screenings at community centres and schools. Their team also volunteers for local causes and charities throughout the year. They aim to be visible and approachable, not just in-store, but wherever people need support.

“Partnerships like this create a ripple effect. By working together, we can raise awareness, reduce stigma around mental health, and encourage people to reach out for support.”
