Let’s all work together to prevent suicide

                      Covid-19 Statement

What is Spot the Signs and Save a Life?

We are a suicide prevention campaign, helping to remove the stigma of talking openly about suicide. We provide training courses and signpost to mental health services available in Hertfordshire.

We aim to:

  • Increase public awareness of depression and suicide in Hertfordshire
  • Remove the stigma linked with suicide
  • Provide suicide prevention training to GPs, healthcare providers and the voluntary sector in Hertfordshire
  • Work with companies to create safer workplaces
  • Signpost to mental health services available in Hertfordshire

Our ambition of zero suicides in Hertfordshire is consistent with the national suicide prevention strategy for England. We also aim to improve support for those bereaved or affected by suicide.

Our vision is to make Hertfordshire a county where no one ever gets to a point where they feel suicide is their only option. Please note that we are not a crisis service.

About Suicide Prevention Training

What are the signs of suicide risk and how do we spot them? Our training courses will:

  • Increase awareness and knowledge of suicide and how it is recorded
  • Introduce practical steps about how to respond to someone who may be at risk of suicide
  • Make you feel more confident about spotting the signs of suicide

There are full-day, half-day and one hour introduction sessions available.

An excellent course – I was able to use the information with a patient the next day

It was a supportive atmosphere with people from a range of experiences and organisations

Training Update- Covid 19

1.5 hour webinar for all to help spot the signs

We have an opportunity to run 1.5 hour training sessions via webinar, looking at Signs, Risk Factors and Risk Response in the COVID-19 climate

We would greatly appreciate if you are interested in this to please email- [email protected]

Online Half Day Training Sessions for Professionals

We are currently in the process of adapting and converting our Spot the Signs training sessions in to a half day webinar session via Zoom. Although we are currently unable to hold face to face sessions, we do feel in this current climate, it is a more important time than ever to be able to provide this training.

We appreciate that many organisations may not be able to give up half a day to complete training sessions at this time, so we are also currently trialling a 1.5 hour session, that will still look to include all key areas such as warning signs and risk factors, responding to risk and signposting and resources. We are however looking to make this session specific to the COVID-19 climate.

If you are interested please email: [email protected]
