Volunteer for Mind in Mid Herts
You’ll learn so much, meet lovely people, and genuinely make a difference. It’s one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever done, not just for others, but for myself as well.
Every day, people in our community face challenges with their mental health, often feeling isolated, unheard, or unsure where to turn. By volunteering with Mind in Mid Herts, you can be the friendly face, listening ear, or helping hand that makes all the difference.
Whether it’s sharing a smile at a group, supporting someone one-to-one, or helping behind the scenes, your time and compassion can give hope, connection, and reassurance to someone who needs it most. Volunteering isn’t just about giving… it’s about being part of a community that cares, grows, and supports each other every step of the way.
Volunteering is a meaningful way to get involved and support your local mental health charity. At Mind in Mid Herts, we offer a variety of rewarding roles that help you connect with others and give back to the community.
Just one or two hours a week can make a real difference—helping someone regain confidence, boost self-esteem, and feel less isolated.

FAQs

Absolutely! The majority of our volunteers are not trained in mental health. As long as you are open to learn, have a non-judgemental attitude and friendly manner you will be an asset to our charity.
2. I don’t have much time, can I still volunteer?
Yes you can. Some people volunteer for only 1 hour per week, or even on an ad-hoc basis depending on the role.
3. Will I be supported?
You will be assigned a supervisor on joining us. This is a staff member who will oversee you as a volunteer and be on hand to support, guide and answer questions as needed.
4. What will I get out of volunteering?
You will learn new skills, build connections and know you are providing invaluable help to people we support.
5. What can I expect when I start?
You will have an induction with your supervisor to familiarise you with your colleagues and the centre you are working from. You will also be invited to attend training designed to help you in your volunteering. Your supervisor will check in with you regularly to see how you are finding your role.
