Are you feeling overwhelmed by clutter and struggling to manage your space? Physical clutter can contribute to mental clutter: a messy, chaotic environment can make it harder to focus, increase feelings of overwhelm, and even heighten stress levels.
For many of us, clutter builds up slowly until it feels completely unmanageable. Everyday tasks like finding paperwork, clearing the kitchen table, or simply relaxing at home can start to feel impossible. The frustration and guilt of not ‘keeping on top of it’ can then add to feelings of stress, shame, and even isolation.
Trying to tackle it on your own can feel daunting — you may not know where to start, lose motivation quickly, or feel judged by others who don’t understand the challenge. That’s where support makes all the difference.
Our Mind Over Matter: Decluttering Peer Support Group at the Stevenage Wellbeing Centre offers a supportive, judgement-free environment to help you take control of your living space and mental wellbeing. This group offers a safe, supportive, and judgement-free space where you can share your experiences, learn practical tips, and take small, manageable steps towards creating a calmer environment.
About the Group
Over 12 weeks, we’ll guide you through practical strategies and provide emotional support to help you address the root causes of clutter and create a more organised, functional environment. Whether you’re facing challenges with emotional attachments to items or simply need support to get started, this group is here to help.
Our sessions will cover topics like:
- Understanding causes and triggers of clutter
- Strategies for decluttering and organising your space
- Overcoming emotional attachment to items
- Self-care, setbacks, and sustaining progress
In the group, you’ll find:
-
A safe, non-judgemental space where you can be open about your struggles.
-
Peer support from others who truly understand what you’re going through.
-
Motivation and accountability to help you keep moving forward, even when progress feels slow.
-
Practical ideas and tips that have worked for others in similar situations.
-
Celebration of successes — no matter how small — to build confidence and keep momentum.
The real benefit lies in knowing you don’t have to do this alone. Together, we create a supportive community that helps you take back control of both your environment and your wellbeing.
