Movement for Mental Health in Stevenage

Mental Health Awareness week is taking place from 13 to 19 May 2024. This year’s focus is around the cost-of-living crisis and the impact it is having on mental health.

There will be lots of free activities happening at Event Island, Stevenage throughout the week to raise awareness of mental health. It will provide a great opportunity to come along and find out more, while keeping your mind and body active at some of the activities too.

Mental health awareness week is all about helping people to realise the signs of mental health, not just for us but those close to us as well. It’s also about highlighting the help that is available and taking that next step to reach out, if necessary, too.

Stevenage Borough Council is working in partnership with the charity Mind in Mid Herts, alongside plenty of other organisations, schools and groups local to the town. There will be a wide range of activities and performances throughout the week.

Sharn Tomlinson, CEO Mind in Mid Herts said: “This Mental Health Awareness week (13-19th May) we are delighted to be working in partnership with Stevenage Borough Council.  The theme this year is ‘Movement’ and we are going to be in Stevenage Town centre each lunchtime the week of 13-18 May.  This is a great opportunity for people to talk to someone in person about their own or loved one’s mental health.  We will share information about how mental health is improved through physical activity.”

You can find more information about mental health and the help available at https://www.mindinmidherts.org.uk/. If you’d like to know more about the cost-of-living, please visit the Stevenage Borough Council website.
