Mental Health Doesn’t Take a Day Off

Every year on 10th October, the world unites to raise awareness of mental health and to advocate for better support. Here in Hertfordshire, World Mental Health Day is more than just a date on the calendar — it’s a chance to reflect on the importance of mental health in our everyday lives and to act so that no one in our community faces their struggles alone.

At Mind in Mid Herts, we see first-hand the impact that local, accessible support has on people’s lives. From counselling and peer groups to workplace wellbeing programmes, we are here every day for the people who need us.

But we cannot do it without you…

Mental health matters every day – donate today, so Mind in Mid Herts can support more people tomorrow.

Why Your Support Matters

Mental health challenges don’t wait for the right time. Every day, someone in Hertfordshire is reaching out for help and behind every donation, there is a real person.

This World Mental Health Day, we are sharing the voices of our community — people sharing their own words about why Mind in Mid Herts mental health support has been life-changing for them. These are not just stories; they are reminders of why your donation matters.

Your support makes sure that someone you may know:

  • Who feels invisible finds a safe place to belong.
  • Who is feeling isolated, can connect with others who understand and share their experiences.
  • Who is facing anxiety or stress, can access practical support to take control of their wellbeing.
  • Who is unsure where to turn, knows there is always a friendly, non-judgemental place to reach out.
  • Who is struggling at work has the tools and resilience to keep going.

These stories remind us that recovery and resilience are possible, but only if support is there when it’s needed.

When someone reaches out to Mind in Mid Herts, it is often at one of the most vulnerable moments in their life. A kind word, a safe space, and the reassurance that they are not alone can make the difference between despair and hope. By donating, you become part of that moment. You help turn tears into courage, silence into conversation, and isolation into connection. Your generosity is not just a gift — it’s a lifeline.

Support Mental Health in Your Workplace

This World Mental Health Day, our Workplace Wellbeing training team is giving you the tools to bring practical mental health support into your workplace.

Because mental health doesn’t just stop at home — and neither should support.

You want to support your team’s mental health… but where do you even start?

It’s a common challenge. You care about your staff, but setting up meaningful support can feel overwhelming. Without the tools, people stay isolated, stress goes unnoticed, and small problems can spiral into bigger issues. When early signs of mental health struggles are missed, trust can break down, and what could have been prevented could turn into a crisis if not dealt with.

Created for professionals, HR teams, and managers who feel unsure and overwhelmed with where to start, our free Peer Support Toolkit is designed to make this simple. It gives you a clear, step-by-step guide to introduce peer support in your workplace — helping you to take action with confidence, show your team that their wellbeing truly matters, and that you are keeping your commitment to mental health.

Together, We Can Make a Difference

World Mental Health Day is a reminder that none of us are alone in our struggles. Here in Hertfordshire, every donation, every act of kindness, and every conversation brings us closer to a community where mental health is understood, supported, and celebrated.

At Mind in Mid Herts, we believe in hope — hope that tomorrow can be brighter, that recovery is possible, and that with your support, no one has to face their challenges alone.

💙 Whether you choose to donate, start a fundraiser, or bring wellbeing into your workplace, you are part of this movement for change.

Together, we can ensure that mental health support is here, today and every day.
